MAY 29: PERITO MORENO GLACIER & NAUTICAL SAFARI
Breakfast. Visit to the Perito Moreno Glacier.
A massive stream of ice and almost surreal experience, with its towers of ice exploding in mid-air and falling to the lake in multiple icebergs. Enjoy the excursion to the glacier, one of the few in the world still actually growing. Your outing will include a boat approach that will take you close enough to the glacier to listen to the constant groan of its crackling ice.
This park has been declared as Mankind Heritage by UNESCO. Those glaciers that named it (about 47) show us a 10 thousand-year-old world: cold and wild. The most famous one is Perito Moreno Glacier in the southwestern end of Argentino Lake at 80 km away from El Calafate. This glacier is so-called due to a great Argentinian explorer from last century and is one of the few glaciers that is still moving in the world. That is why it has become one of the most spectacular natural shows in South America. From time to time its 60-m-high snout releases some ice walls as huge as buildings that fall into Rico Bend or Canal de los Témpanos (Ice floes Channel) and then they continue sailing along the channel to the main area of the lake. However, that is not all. The glacier, while moving forward, comes closer to the Magallanes Peninsula, in the opposite lake bank as well as footbridge and viewpoint area. This cycle takes from 4 to 6 years and it eventually separates the lake into two areas. Rico Bend is dammed up and it increases about 35 m over its average level. Its water slowly pierces its way through the glacier snout until it makes it fall down. This show is breathtaking. Water becomes into terrific waves so the whole process restarts again.
Safari Nautical
Complementary navigation of the Perito Moreno Glacier excursion. We will sail up to the southern end of the Témpanos Channel, then the boat gets near the glacier wall skirting it, allowing us to observe the icefalls that regularly take place.

MAY 30: UPSALA & ONELLI GLACIERS
Breakfast. Today we will leave from El Calafate and after traveling 50 km by bus, we arrive to Puerto de la Cruz, in Punta Bandera, where the boats are waiting for the visitors to depart at 9:00 am. After navigating 1:45 hours the boat will enter Canal de los Témpanos (Icebergs Channel), where we will be able to admire the magnificent view of the icebergs that fall off the glacier while at the back of the channel, appears the incredible view of the Upsala Glacier. The boat will get near to admire its magnificent ice walls and then continue to Onelli Bay. There, we will walk 800 meters through the forest and after reaching the Onelli lake, we will look at the glaciers Onelli, Agassiz and Bolado that flow into the lake. Sailing back, we will make a stop at the Spegazzini glacier, this glacier of incredible beauty, has the highest wall on the lake. We will then continue to the port and then to Calafate by land.
